The familia
We headed up north to Sacramento to celebrate Grandma's 85th birthday with her.  It had been 3 years since we had seen her, and her first chance to meet Boston.  This was really special to us for him to meet her because we named Boston after her husband, Grandpa Ed.  We learned so much about his life and saw the volumes of geneology Grandma Janet has done for his family.  It was great to learn about Grandpa Ed's and Grandpa Janet's life and history.  Darrell, Susie, Sterling and Jenny surprised Grandma by flying in as well so we were all able to celebrate her special day with her.  I sewed her a blanket (which was my first picture blanket) and Dee put together a book of letters from all the family members for Grandma.  Aunt Dolly and Addy bonded by reading books together and playing games.  Dee spoiled the kids as well with many gifts.  And I was thrilled my kids were able to make memories with Grandma Janet at her house....namely sitting in the atrium and playing in the backyard. We were also able to celebrate Grandpa Darrell's birthday while we were there also.  It was good to celebrate it with him.  Another memory is when Adelyn and Jenny walked to the duck pond and a goose swooped out of the water and grabbed the back of Adelyns sweater with its beak.  Adelyn took off running, and Jenny went running after her.  Both of them were scared and pretty shaken up by the whole experiance.  I know its scary when Jenny (our family animal lover) was even nervous.  My kids made lots of memories being at grandma's and I am so thankful we were able to spend her birthday with her. My kids LOVED being in her backyard, especially the bridge. They also enjoyed climbing the hill by the pond. We are already looking forward to the next trip to Grandma's.....hopefully it wont take us 3 years again to get there!!!

On our way to the airport we made a special request to go to the cemetary and see Grandpa Ed and Uncle Alan's grave.  I want Boston to know where he got his middle name and it is important to me that Addy and Boston know about their grandparents.  We were able to see Uncle Alan's grave again as well.  I am so gald we took the time to go by.  We cant wait til we can go back to North Calif. and visit again.
