Mormon Battalion Museum

The Ehman family invited us to join them for Family Home Evening at the Mormon Battalion Museum.  We had so much fun (which we always do with the Ehman family).  The museum has a movie of members of the Mormon Battalion and their loved ones.  It starts in the woods in Iowa where the Mormon Battalion is called, moves to a store where food and clothing were purchased from the Mormon Battalion, on the trail where the Battle of the Bulls occurred, and then into San Diego.  I was amazed by the strong influence of many Mormons in settling San Diego.  After the movie we went to an interactive area of the museum where kids pan for gold, wash clothes pioneer style, learn how bricks were made, and draw water from a well with a bucket.  Adelyn asked so many questions about pioneers we realized in all our gospel teaching and Family Home Evenings we have forgotten to teach her about the sacrifices pioneers made to be able to worship as they believed was right.  It was a fun, learning experiance for all of us.  Thanks Ehman's!

Adelyn's in KINDERGARTEN!!

That's right.  Adelyn is in Kindergarten!  She will start going half day until October and then she will be gone to school all day.  It was SOOO much easier to take her to school this year.  There were a couple of her friends from her class last year that ended up being in her class this year.  First time she has gone to school and actually knew somebody there.  Adelyn is absolutley loving school!  She is not sure about her teacher yet.  Her teacher has a different way of  disiplining  than Mrs. Reid did and Adelyn is adjusting to that.  She is such a good girl who wants to please so she will do just fine.  She has already made a BFF in the class!  She can make friends with ANYONE, ANYWHERE!  Boston however, had a VERY hard time.  He was crying and yelling "I want to go with Addy.  I want to go to school with Addy" over and over.  Other parents that we didn't even know were trying to help me console the poor kid.  I have been keeping him really busy and making lots of play dates for him so mornings go by a little quicker.  We are on our 4th day of dropping off Adelyn at school and he still cries a little bit, but not the fits that occurred the first and second days.  I went a little crazy on the "First day of Kinder" pictures but here they are!

After first day of school!

August FUN!

Spent most of our August days at the pool before school started
Usually Followed by Ice Cream

We made a list of "things to do" for the summer before school started up again.  We had done most everything on the list, except make Peanut Butter Playdough.  So we spent an afternoon making the dough, playing with the dough, and yes, even eating the dough.  Here are the most adorable kids and their cute playdough creations!!

There was a water pipe that broke right outside our house, and as a result we had the funnest water park around.  The kids had such a blast and were drenched by the time we were done.

Trains

There is a little train station here and our kids LOVE to go and ride the trains.  We went one Saturday afternoon on the trains and decided to have a little "photo shoot" while we were there with our kids.  Enjoy the pictures!
