Introducing Boston Edwin Young

Our little guy Boston Edwin was born on Thursday Februrary 18th! I had been contracting since about 5:00 pm on Wednesday about every 10 minutes. We went to the OB and they said I was only at a 1 and sent me home. I had contractions every 10 minutes that whole night and the next day. I had a Doctors checkup appt at 3:30 on Thursday and when I went in she told me I was already dialated to a 4. So she told me to walk up to the OB room and we would have a baby by the end of the night. Trav and I walked to other side of the hospital and got ready to have our baby. The contractions got a little stronger, but my water had not broke still. So whenI was at a 5 the Dr. (who was a fill in for my real doctor who was gone and was AWESOME) broke my water. I went from 5- 8 in about no time flat and although I had I some pain meds, it was not cutting it. I got my epideral when I was a but by then I was shaking horribly and uncontrollably bad from the pain. The epideral numbed me and I calmed down and then I had my baby boy about 30 minutes later. Boston was posterior and was turning on his own but was turning the wrong way so they had to use the forceps on him to help him turn. His heart rate dropped fast and they thought they would have to do surgery, but then he turned and about half hour of pushing and he was here. When they put him on my stomach, his face was blue and his body was pale because the cord was wrapped around his neck, shoulders, and body. He was really small and they then the nurses whisked him to the warmers and they checked him. They put him on the scale and turned it so I could see it. He weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces and was 18 inches long. The doctor said he was really little for being full term, so they are still trying to determine why. He is healthy though and has passed every test that has been thrown at him or drawn from him and everything has come back with awesome results. It appears he is just a little guy. On Tuesday night I said to Travis he is not moving a lot (which he was VERY active especially at nights). Trav reminded me I could not feel Adelyn move a lot at the end either because she had little room and I was contracting so much. But it is obvious that Boston was bigger at some point then he was when he was born. He is PERFECT! He is such a good baby and Adelyn was so excited when we brought him home. She is very helpful and loves her brother so much. Adelyn could not see him in the hospital because of the 14 yr. rule and the 4 visitors rule. She saw him through the glass though and these are the pictures of the first time she saw him. When he had to go back to the room in the hospital and she was leaving with Grandma and Grandpa Rowley she started to cry and said she wanted baby brother to come home and she had a bed for him and a fbedroom so he could live with her. After explaining that he was coming home tomorrow she did a little better. At one point she thought she was living with my parents and he was going to live with us. After explaining she was just visiting because mom and dad werent home yet and that all 4 of us are going to live together she was better. When we got home from the hospital she was wired. She was constantly wanting to touch baby brother and she was running all over the place. She was so excited and I love that she loves her brother so much. I am such a lucky girl to have the wonderful husband I have and to be mother to 2 of the choicest spirits from heaven. I am so blessed. We are all doing well and all of us seem to be adjusting well to the exciting change. Thanks for all the love and support we have received from family and friends, and especially my parents. They took Adelyn the whole time we were gone and we came home to a fridge and freezer chuck full of dinners and food and I had a clean house with all the laundry done. I have awesome parents. Thanks again to all the support we have received and for sharing this sweet experiance with us.

Hooray!! Congratulations...I guess I won't be seeing you at Story time this week. I'm glad that both you and baby are good and that your labor was much better and shorter this time! Let me know if you need anything, dinner, to take Adelyn to story time etc.

Congrats on your baby! I'm glad to hear everything went well for you. It's so sweet to hear how excited Adelyn is to be a big sister. I'm hoping my Addy is the same way:)
